Job Description

Advanced Systems Engineering (ASE) is a unit within Nokia Research Center (NRC) aiming to rapidly increase the maturity of selected important research innovations and accelerate integration into existing Nokia products and services. We are now looking for a Senior Software Development Engineer to specify, design and participate in the implementation of appealing mobile solutions produced by the Contextual Solutions team. The team focuses on creating examples of complete end-to-end solutions that are attractive to consumers.

In this exciting and challenging role you will be responsible for specification, design and implementation of complex software engineering projects. This will involve solving complex software engineering problems by using a hands-on software engineering and implementation approach, leading the technical design and implementation work for complex mobile applications and services, and producing great quality software assets that surpass consumer expectations. You will also be expected to coach others in your areas of expertise and contribute to creating new project and concept ideas.

We are looking for a senior developer with good C++ and mobile software development skills, especially in mobile Linux and Maemo. You should have 5-6 years of recent deep experience in mobile application design and implementation and an excellent understanding of mobile software technologies and application development. Our team currently focuses on Qt and MeeGo development and it is essential that you are familiar with it. A more general background in web client/server systems and software is appreciated as the team changes focus depending on customer needs. In addition, we appreciate deep domain expertise in areas like contextual technologies, location, local interaction as well as experience in creating applications and services for everyday consumers.

Your educational background includes a Master's degree or higher in e.g. Computer Science. To hit the ground running, you are familiar with agile methodology and test-driven development and capable of adapting to changing priorities and challenges without difficulty. Your keys to success also include excellent written and spoken communication skills in English and the ability to work efficiently as part of a multicultural team. If you're interested in joining our team and want to take part in developing the future of mobile communication, apply today!
